Rural Health Innovation Center
The Health and Technology Education Center (HTEC) is an exciting concept that will enhance and expand healthcare workforce education in the Superior Region of Northern California. With sponsorship from a grant from Anthem Blue Cross, a feasibility study was conducted in early 2020 and is available to read here (LINK attached).
HTEC will be the home of Healthy Rural California’s upcoming medical residency programs, the Northern California Rural SIM Center, and more. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, the concept for HTEC was to promote and expand Telehealth for healthcare delivery. The pandemic brought Telehealth to the forefront of all care delivery, which means the HTEC is even more important to train our future healthcare workforce.
In early fall 2021, we anticipate that the Health and Technology Education Center will be incorporated into the 3Core regional strategy which will help inform our capital campaign.
Healthy Rural California and Butte-Glenn Medical Society continue to explore how to bring this building concept to life in Chico, where excellent healthcare and education intersect. Please contact Kristy Bird MaKieve at kmakieve@healthyruralca.org if you’re interested in partnering to make this building happen.
