Clinical Training Sites

Enloe Health

Enloe Health is a 298-bed Level II Trauma Center in Chico, California that serves as the regional medical center for six counties. Enloe offers a vast array of clinical services including cardiovascular, emergency, neurology, maternity care, oncology, orthopedics, radiology/nuclear medicine, rehabilitation, critical care, surgery, wound care, and more. Enloe Health will serve as the primary clinical site. The rotations that will take place at this site include inpatient medicine, critical care/ICU, emergency medicine, sports medicine, orthopedics, general surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, community/population health, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, hematology/oncology, nephology, and urology. Some residents will be assigned to Enloe Health as their Continuity Clinic site which will provide their longitudinal FM continuity patient panel and additional FM clinic month rotations in PGY2 and PGY3. In addition to the rotations listed above, elective rotations will be offered through Enloe Health.

Northern Valley Indian Health – Chico

Northern Valley Indian Health (NVIH) is a private, non-profit tribal corporation that seeks to reestablish care services for Indians in Northern California. Since 1971, NVH has provided medical, behavioral health, and dental services in Butte, Colusa, Glenn, and Yolo counties. Residents will spend one month of outpatient pediatrics in PGY1 and PGY2 at the outpatient clinic site. Some residents will be assigned to NVIH as their Continuity Clinic site which will provide their longitudinal FM continuity patient panel and additional FM clinic month rotations in PGY2 and PGY3.

VA Northern California Health Care System – Chico VA Clinic 

The Veteran’s Association of Northern California – Chico VA Clinic is a Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC). Chico VA clinic host a very broad range of clinical and ancillary services including allergy, asthma, and immunology, audiology and speech, cardiology, chiropractic, dental/oral surgery, dermatology, hematology/oncology, mental health, primary care, social work, etc. PGY3 residents will spend a required 1.5 months at this location. Experiences will include one month for their geriatric/extended care and two weeks for addiction medicine rotation.  

Turning Point Community Programs – Sacramento  

Turning Point Community Program (Turning Point) in Sacramento, CA utilizes best-practices in mental health treatment to provide needed behavioral health care to multiple Northern California communities, including in Sacramento. Turning Point’s mission is to empower people of all ages/identities to live their best lives through the delivery of quality behavioral health and social services. Turning Point offers a variety of mental health services that meet each patient where they are in their behavioral health treatment journey. During the resident’s one block, PGY2 rotation, residents will receive hands on experience in a variety of mental health settings and various services, all structured with a community focus. Residents will be provided housing while rotating at this site due to the travel requirements.
