Marie Wallace – Project Coordinator

As the newest addition to the Healthy Rural California team, Marie brings a wealth of experience and passion to her role as Project Coordinator for Drug-Free Communities and the Chico Community Prevention Coalition. A proud alumna of both Butte College and Chico State University, Marie’s commitment to community well-being is deeply rooted in her extensive background in mental health support and behavioral health services for at-risk youth. Beyond her professional pursuits, Marie enjoys exploring Bidwell Park, kayaking the Sacramento River, and spending time with her loved ones.  

Maya Teso – Project Coordinator Assistant

With a bachelor’s degree from CSU Chico and a fervent dedication to public health, Maya embodies the spirit of service in her role as Project Coordinator Assistant. Drawing from her internship experience at Healthy Rural California, Maya is driven by a desire to promote health equity in rural communities. Now, as a vital Chico Community Prevention Coalition member, Maya channels her passion for public health into tangible action, empowering youth and fostering community resilience. Outside of work, Maya finds joy in staying active and connecting with nature.
