“Connecting Rural Communities to Vital Resources for Better Health”
At Healthy Rural California, we understand that health is shaped by much more than just medical care. The Social Determinants of Health—including access to nutritious food, safe housing, reliable transportation, and interpersonal safety—are fundamental to individual and community well-being. For residents of rural areas, these essential resources can be harder to obtain, creating significant challenges to overall health and quality of life. That’s why Healthy Rural California is committed to connecting individuals and families across Butte, and Colusa, Glenn, Shasta, Siskiyou, and Tehama counties with the local resources they need to thrive.
Our Resource Directory is designed to provide easy access to services that help address these critical needs:
Food Security: We connect you with local food banks, meal programs, and nutritional support services to ensure access to healthy, affordable food.
Housing: Our directory offers resources for emergency housing, long-term assistance, and homelessness prevention to support safe, stable living.
Transportation: We help you find local transportation options and assistance programs to ensure reliable access to healthcare, work, and community services.
Utility Services: Access to essential utilities is vital for health. We provide information on programs offering utility bill assistance and energy efficiency upgrades.
Interpersonal Safety: We connect you to organizations offering support for domestic violence survivors and community safety programs to ensure a safe environment.
