Civic & Volunteer Organization Sector Representative

Mission: Founded in 1999, Youth Nexus was the first youth philanthropy board in California. Youth philanthropy is the giving of time, talent, or money from youth to youth in the community. Youth Nexus chose its name to represent its meaning: “nexus” signifies a starting point that the council strives to be for youth change and advocacy in the community. Youth Nexus is a group of young people working as a team to represent and empower youth leaders. The council influences other young people to create positive change by funding youth-led community change projects. Since Youth Nexus began as the first youth philanthropy board in Northern California, it has provided opportunities for youth to help make decisions affecting other youth throughout Butte County.

Parent Sector Representative
Angela A. Martin

Angela has been working with youth since 2004, both in a professional capacity teaching drug and alcohol prevention education and currently managing several youth-focused public health education programs for Butte County Public Health’s Health Promotion division. As a parent of a 14-year-old son, she understands the challenges that youth face today. With her extensive experience and insight into generational shifts—those gradual changes in attitudes, behaviors, and societal norms that occur as one generation succeeds another—Angela is passionate about adapting to these changes to better support youth. This understanding made it an easy decision for her to join as the CCPC Parent Committee Member.
