Drug Free Communities

The mission of the Chico Community Prevention Coalition is to serve our community by working to prevent and reduce youth substance use.

We seek to do this by engaging youth and families, promoting protective factors, minimizing the impact of risk factors, while increasing community education and collaboration.

Chico Community Prevention Coalition: Uniting for a Healthier Community

Formed in 2020 in partnership with Butte County Behavioral Health, the Chico Community Prevention Coalition (CCPC) is a collaborative group of organizations and individuals who meet monthly to support and strengthen our community. Some of the specific focus areas are prevention and early intervention of youth substance use, substance use education to youth and youth-serving organizations, and community health.

At the heart of our coalition is a profound commitment to serving our community’s needs, particularly in substance abuse prevention and early intervention. Established under the auspices of the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) grant, CCPC strategically bridges service gaps and fosters impactful alliances within our community.

Our primary objectives revolve around ensuring that our youth and families have access to vital services, education, and substance use and prevention resources. Thanks to strong partnerships and efforts from Sector Representatives including Butte County Behavioral Health and Butte County Office of Education, over the years, CCPC has been a central force in driving through initiatives such as opioid education campaigns for high school students and youth-serving organizations, Responsible Beverage Service training for local businesses, and facilitating collaborative events and services that promote environmental prevention and protective factors for youth in Butte County.

As we stride into 2024, the CCPC remains dedicated to nurturing these invaluable opportunities and bolstering our partners in a shared mission to uplift our community.
